Hair restoration or hair transplant is typically a way to regain the heavy hairs on the head. It is the surgery in which the surgeon removes the hair follicles from one part of the body which is known as the donor site to the other bald part of the body which is called the recipient site. This surgery is first used by the surgeons to cure the male patients who are facing baldness problem. In this technique, surgeons take the grafts which contain hair follicles that are genetically resistant to the bald such as from the back of the head is transplanted to the bald scalp. These types of techniques are used to restore the hair of beard, chest, eyebrows as well as eyelashes. Moreover, this is also used to fill the scars which are damaged by accidents like face-lifts. There are two techniques available to regain hair.
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) HAIR TRANSPLANT
- Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) HAIR TRANSPLANT
LET’S DISCUSS BOTH (FUE AND FUT) HAIR TRANSPLANT IN DETAIL
- Follicular Unit Transplant(FUT)-:
In this technique, surgeons remove a strip of hair-bearing skin from the donor site of the scalp from the back of the head, which is also called strip surgery. Then the strip is inserted under the microscope which is of high power and then a team of surgeons classifies them into small grafts of individual follicular units consisted of one to four hairs. Then these grafts are placed in a chilled tissue storage solution till they all get transplanted. In this surgery, it caters access to a greater donor high yield during a life span than the FUE treatment and the donor area is stitched and it is surrounded by hairs. After 15 days, doctors remove the stitches and the donor areas get recovered to form a linear scar.
- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
This technique is processed manually or by a motorized surgical instrument. In this surgery, surgeons create a series of small dots scars on the scalp and these should be so tiny that they can be noticeable scarcely. Due to the multiple FUE surgeries more and more dot scars are adjusted and the hair in the donor area hair is slowly thinned out , So this is the main reason why a limited quantity of donor’s hair, which should be taken care of both by surgeons and patients as well and must ensure that there should be sufficient donor supply for long time span.
