    ENQUIRY FORM

Today’ technology and success in medical science have provided the best solution for hair loss and there are some reputed clinics for hair transplant in Punjab too.

What is the donor area and its diffusion?

The donor area is the area which donates hair follicles to implant in the scalp or the affected area. These areas can be your both ear sides, behind the scalp or even chin. The donor area is chosen in the procedure on various factors such as texture, density calibre and colour.

Sometimes the donor area gets diffused means the density of hair follicles before or after the hair transplant procedure. This condition can put an adverse effect on the whole procedure.

What are the causes of this condition?

Some known causes of diffuse hair loss are:-

    • Genetic factors.
    • Stress.
    • Thyroid disease.
    • Surgery or general anaesthesia
    • Iron deficiency.
    • Diet.
    • Accident.
    • And rarely due to fever.

    Examples of bad donor areas:-

    • Hair transplant cannot be done on people having thin hair.
    • Cicatricial Alopecia Scars because of unknown issues.
    • People under the age of 25.
    • People having deceased donors, especially women.
    • Men suffering from DUPA Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia.

Now let’s talk about the treatment for this problem occurring before or after the transplant.

The treatment includes some medications and these are:

    Topical Minoxidil Application:-

Minoxidil solution is in the form of liquid and foam. Both men and women can use this solution. Minoxidil helps in extending the hair growth phase which is Anagen Phase and it slows down the Telogen phase which is deposition and resting phase of the hair. Due to this more hair is resided on the scalp so that it is available on the time of the transplant.

Now, this solution is not helpful for everyone because it does not work on anyone. Male patients are recommended to use a solution with 5% concentration, whereas female patients are told to use 2% solution. Rogaine brand is famous for producing good minoxidil solutions.

    Finasteride tablets:-

The next treatment is oral medication. It is recommended for men. Finasteride reduces the production of DHT, by inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme which transforms testosterone into DHT which is the main cause of hair thinning and thus hair loss. This tablet too may not suit everyone. Its side effects fade away after stopping its use.

    Use of antibiotics after transplantation:

Doctors prescribe antibiotics after 3 to 5 days of the surgery. These prevent infections and help in a smooth recovery. Antibiotic creams are used to cure the bumps and cysts at the donor area.

    Dermaroller:

Dermaroller is used to massage the scalp to increase the blood circulation at the scalp. Tiny pins on the roller puncture the scalp and it increases the blood flow in the area which further reduces the formation of DHT in that area.
